Psychological Testing

Psychological testing involves a battery of tests administered by a psychologist that can be helpful in making decisions about such things as diagnosis, treatment recommendations, career choices, hiring, child placement, legal proceedings and medical options. Psychological tests assess such things as:

  • Autism
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Intelligence
  • Learning disabilities
  • Personality
  • Academic achievement
  • Parenting ability
  • Social skills
  • Treatment compliance
  • Ability to work
  • Readiness for surgery
  • Ability to make legal decisions
  • Memory and attention

Psychological Evaluation

A psychological evaluation may last anywhere from a couple of hours to all day. It typically involves an interview plus a battery of tests designed to address specific referral questions. A psychological evaluation report may include background information, tests results, diagnosis (when appropriate) and recommendations. Toward the end of the report specific recommendations may be made based on the evaluation findings.
